Imphal, June 05 2013:
While condemning the murder of Reingamphy Awungshi of Choithor village in Ukhrul district, who was found dead in her rented room at Chirag Dilli, South Delhi on 29th May, Committee on Human Rights (COHR), Manipur has maintained that it was an example of conspiracy, discrimination and suppression against North East people by mainland Indians.
Referring to some hideous and controversial crimes against North East people in different parts of the country like murder of Richard Loitam in Bangalore and a girl in Mumbai, etc, Phulindro Konsam, Convenor of COHR, said that instead of taking the culprits into custody, police in mainland India try to divert and conceal facts about the murders.
In case of Reingamphy too, it was only after protest movement that FIR had been registered and fresh autopsy report sought.
While urging the state government to take necessary actions into the matter, Phulindro appealed all to extend help in the present movement for ensuring justice to Reingamphy.
