Awareness on horticulture crops held

A one-day awareness programme on 'Horticulture Production and its importance in Hill Areas' in connection with Seva Diwas being carried out to mark PM Modi's birthday, was held on Tuesday at Tengkonjang Higher Secondary School auditorium at Longmai Part-3 in Noney district headquarters.
The programme was organised by Manipur State Commission for Scheduled Tribes (MSCST) in association with Noney district administration.
It was attended by MSCST chairperson Thuigai Mathieu Rongmei as chief guest and Noney deputy commissioner Joseph Pauline Kamson as functional president while commission members Dr Tara Manchin Hanzo and Lungthaona Rongmei were the guests of honour.
As a part of the programme, Horticulture & Soil Conservation's agriculture officer Dr Roshan Dangmei elaborated about government schemes and policy for the farmers and their implementation.
His speech also covered issues related to production of horticultural crops and its importance in the hill areas.
Farmers of Noney area, Village Authority leaders, CSO leaders and District Level Officers took part in the programme during which an interaction session was also facilitated between farmers and sub ject experts, followed by plantation of tree saplings at TK Hr Sec School campus and distribution of saplings to the participants.
