While welcoming the State Government's decision to observe a State Level Teachers' Day celebration, Federation of Government College Teachers' Associations, Manipur (FEGOCTA) has asked the government to settle issues related to teachers in the State.
FEGOCTA in a press release has demanded that the government takes up immediate steps to release the components of salary SCA&TA; grant one increment in the pre-revised scale; to promote about 350 eligible teachers up to January 2015 due since 2009; to fill up vacant posts of librarians and non-teaching staff and to expedite pending High Court cases.
The association said that the inaction of the government on taking any steps to promote/create the posts of professors as per UGC Regulations, 2010, constitution of State Higher Education Service, increase in the higher education budget, GPF ceiling up Rs 1.78 crore and other issue have hurt the college teachers and higher education in the state.
FEGOCTA also condemned the violence in Churachandpur and other places since August 31 and added that any apprehension, fear and differences should be resolved through dialogue among the stakeholders.
