Parent bodies' statement out of fear, intimidation: Eastern Vaiphei bodies

Imphal, April 04 2015 : "The VPC/YVA/Zillai Hqtrs nullifying the statement of its eastern block and Joint Hqtrs statement is done out of 'fear,' 'certain pressure' and due to 'intimidation,'" said a joint statement issued by Eastern Block of VPC, Zillai and YVA Jt Hqtrs.

"VPC/YVA/Zillai Hqtrs have never hardly shown any concern in the affairs and problems of the Eastern and Northern Vaipheis.

They have remained silent in similar cases in the past such as in the killing of Khuplallian Vaiphei by Assam Rifles.

They have not shown up when houses were burnt," said the joint statement issued by Zabiaksang Neilut, president, YVA Jt Hqtrs, Jangneilun, president, VPC (Eastern Block) and Lamzagou Vaiphei, president, Zillai Eastern Block.

The VPC Hqtrs president convened a joint meeting with the Eastern Vaiphei leaders over the present issue at Imphal on April 3 where it was unanimously agreed to hold another round of talk at the office of VPC Hqtrs, Churachandpur in order to arrive at viable common standpoint.

However, much against the decision made in the joint meeting, the three Hqtrs presidents made a statements the next day without any consultation to the concerned blocks and its cabinet, the statement said.

The statement of YVA and Zillai Hqtrs claiming that the concerned parent organizations were not consulted was false and a lie, it said.

The joint bodies' declaration of asking all Vaiphei individuals to withdraw from all Kuki organizations is as per VPC Hqtrs policy; the VPC has accepted Zomi nomenclature and disowned Kuki nomenclature, it asserted.

This decision or statement is not meant against the Kuki society and its people but meant to make the Vaiphei society more well-organized and solid structured.

"Unscrupulous few youths wielding arms and working in the name of Kuki may not be accepted by the mainstream Kuki organizations, we believe.

As such, we requested all mainstream Kuki organizations to help and support us in our movement to thwart those self styled gangster working in the name of Kuki," it added.
