World Autism Awareness Day observed

Asha Kiran - Kumbirei Village Tengnoupal District observed World Autism Awareness Day on the theme of 'Inclusive Quality Education for all' at Khopinom Village, Pallel on Saturday.
The observance was attended by State Disaster Management VP Yanglet Haokip as chief guest and District Hospital Chandel child specialist Dr Hrangbung Selly as guest of honour.
Shaksham national executive member H Jadumani Sharma, state secretary Jiten Khuman, and others also attended the event.
During the technical session of the programme, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Composite Regional Centre Imphal in-charge Lanu Areng Aimol spoke on 'Historical perspective of World Autism Awareness Day'; Tengnoupal District, Inclusive Education for Disabled (IED) co-ordinator Hoineichong Sitlhou on 'Bridge between NGO and Government -Disability Rehabilitation'; Trust Care Special School, Nungourok Pallel director Morong Hongsha on 'Special Education - Disability'; and MEd Special Education (Hearing Impairment) consultant Reiphomshel Saka on 'Inclusive Education' as resource persons.
Delivering the keynote speech, Asha Kiran executive director Ch Sonboi Aimol said that the organisation's main focus areas include encouragement of meritorious students, counselling, providing vocational training, organising welfare programmes, de-addiction of drug users, empowering of women, etc.
Although the works were temporarily suspended during the pandemic, Asha Kiran has begun its various activities to uplift differently abled people and drug users, to help them live normal lives and become capable and contributing members of the society.
