Awareness prog on One Stop Centre held

A one-day awareness programme on 'Violence Against Women and Role of One Stop Centre' organised by One Stop Centre (OSC), Tengnoupal was held on Friday at Moreh with Kha Nongpok Apunba Nupi Lup president Th Ibemhal Leima, Nupi Khunai Chaokhat Lamjing Lup general secretary L Tamem Leima, OSC Tengnoupal administrator L Rita Devi, OSC counsellor I Rashitombi and OSC case worker Lucy Haokip as presidium members.
Rita Devi, who was also a resource person of the event, spoke on the roles and functions of One Stop Centre and highlighted the activities of OSC as temporary shelter, medical aid, legal aid, psycho-socio counselling and police assistance.
Rita also dwelt on how a victim of domestic violence can be rescued and the service to be given to the victims apart from informing to the gathering about the role of government and government helpline numbers provided for the victims.
On the other-hand, Rashitombi delivered a lecture on 'Prevention of Child Sexual Offence (POCSO) Act' and advised adolescent girls and young women to remain on high in order to avoid being entrapped into cybercrimes.
While cautioning the teenager girls against unrestrained usage of mobile phones arid randomly accessing social media contents, she also urged victims of social and cybercrimes to contact OSC of the district concerned so as to get rescue and seek immediate legal assistance to penalise the culprits.
Speaking at the event, Lucy Haokip explained on procedures to rescue victims of domestic violence and assistance they may avail while remarking that proactive measures are inevitable to root out dowry system and other social crimes committed against women.
