23-year-old Usham Manglem, a resident of Uripok Laikhurembi Leirak in Imphal West, who was arrested by the police on charges of posting derogatory comments against Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Facebook has been granted bail by the Chief Judicial Magistrate Imphal West today.
The Court observed that the statements made by Usham Manglem do not appear to be meant against any particular community, religion, groups, places of birth or language.
But it is rather an expression of his own opinion of the present Government of Manipur and its leader.
The Court order mentioned that it is an expression of his distrust of the Government and party that forms it.
It does not appear as an intention to promote social unrest, hatred or disharmony among any community, religion, groups and places of birth or language.
It may be mentioned here that Usham Manglem was arrested by a team from Imphal Police Station on July 27 after a suo moto case was registered against him.
He was produced before the Court today afternoon after four days police custody remand.
The IO of the case prayed for further judicial custody till August 14 .
But after hearing both parties the Court granted him bail with a PR bond of Rs 50 thousand.
