MoS Ranjan stresses lesson on Indian history, culture

Maintaining that the history of medieval dynasties is a glorious chapter in the Indian history, Union Minister of State for Education and External Affairs Dr RK Ranjan Singh has pointed out the need to impart the people, especially youngsters and those from standard 8 to graduate lessons on history of our civilization and culture.
The union minister of state was speaking as chief guest of the inaugural function of an exhibition on "Glory of Medieval India; Manifestations of the unexplored- Indian Dynasties, 8th - 18th century" organised by Indian Council of Historical Research (ICHR), ministry of education, at Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi, on Monday.
The minister informed that India is one of the most continuous civilizations of the world which is a matter of great pride for every nation, and expressed delight over IHCR organising the exemplary exhibition.
He further said that the dynasties which ruled India during the medieval period fostered a culture of artistic creativity, intellectual growth, scientific progress, and above all a spirit of democracy and tolerance of various strands of thought.
"It was under their rule that the nation made substantial strides in various sciences such as architecture and metallurgy" .
While stating that the exhibition beautifully highlights marvels of architecture, sculptures, paintings, literature and water management system which flourished during the period, Dr RK Ranjan said that many of these have been designated as UNESCO world heritage sites for having cultural, historical, scientific or other forms of significance.
The inaugural session of the function was also attended by Akhil Itihas Sankalan Yojana organising secretary Dr Balmukund Pandey as special guest.
