Fellowships in USA for school teachers in Manipur

Imphal, April 24 2015 :
United States - India Educational Foundation, Kolkata has announced the 2015 International Leaders in Education Programme (ILEP).
The programme is meant for teachers (grades 6 to 12) teaching English, Social Studies, Mathematics, Science and Special Education at schools in the states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Jharkhand, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, Tripura and West Bengal.
Dr Anirban Choudhury, Director of the American Corner, Guwahati in a press release said that the competition is open only to teachers from the States mentioned and not the rest of India.
This US Government sponsored programme provides international teachers with unique opportunities to develop expertise in their subject areas, enhance their teaching skills and increase their knowledge about the United States.
The US based academic programme will include semester-long non-degree, non-credit academic programme at a US University including seminars on new teaching methodologies, curriculum development, lesson planning, and teaching strategies, said the press release.
As part of the academic programme, participants will work in groups to develop a unique teacher professional development module.
Participants will also audit two courses in the host university's School or Department of Education and participate in a field experience in a US Secondary School near the host university.
Dr Anirban said cultural enrichment, mentoring, and support will be provided throughout the programme and ILEP will commence in January 2016 and conclude in May 2016.Selected Indian teachers will receive round-trip transportation, room and board and applicable allowances and will travel on J 1 visas.
The American Corner, Guwahati (under Dept.
of Public Affairs, Govt of U.S.A.) is an extension of the American Center, Kolkata and is under the Department of Public Affairs, Govt.of USA.
The Corner acts as the extension unit of educational and cultural information of the American Center.
The Corner takes the responsibility of creating the necessary awareness in the region and invite suitable applications on the said program.
