Bangladesh Meiteis meet to preserve tradition

Imphal, October 20 2014:
Bangladesh Manipuri Juva Kalyan Sangstha (BMJKS), an association of Manipuris settled in Bangladesh conducted an open discussion on preserving the culture and tradition of Meiteis at the mandir of Shri Shri Gouranga Mahaprabhu at Sagardighirpar on October 17 .
The programme was attended by Anand Singh, chief of Sylhet Panchayat as chief guest and President of BMJKS Phalem Naren as President, while elders of the village, Indramani and Kantamani were the special guests.
The discussion was participated by: L.Hiren, Yumnam Nipendra, Khir Singh, Nambram Sangkar, Leichambam Prashanta, Dharni Singh, Oyai Ladu Singh, Samarendra Singh, Chaoba Singh, Lakhikanta, Digen, Biraj, babloo and Seram Ripen.
The BMJKS was formed with a view to prevent the inter-marriages of Meiteis with the people of other communities .
