Phase II of EMI to cover 573 villages

Family Welfare Services organised launching and media sensitization workshop on second round of special Intensified v Mission Indradhanush vaccination drive under Gram Swaraj Abhiyan at its conference hall today.
State Mission Director (NHM) Manipur, N Bandana; Director (Family Welfare Services) Dr K Rajo; Additional Director Dr Md Salamat Ullah; State Programme Officer (UNDP Manipur) Sarat Yadav and State Nodal Officer (Family Welfare Services) Th Nandakishore attended the media sensitization workshop as presidium members.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Rajo said that Intensified Mission Indradhanush vaccination programme in the State was launched in 2015 with the aim of reaching out to each and every child under two years of age and all those pregnant women who have been left uncovered under the routine immunisation programme with the special drive focusing on improving immunization coverage in select districts and cities to ensure full immunization to more than 90 percent by December 2018 .
He conveyed that for this year, the first round of special Intensified Mission Indradhanush vaccination drive was carried out from April 23 to 27 with the vaccination of 99.72 percent of children and 99.36 percent of pregnant women.
He informed that the second round of Intensified Mission Indradhanush vaccination drive to be conducted from May 21 to 25 aims at vaccinating children and pregnant women in 573 villages in the State.
In this regard, he appealed to the people to be aware of the drive to ensure that children and pregnant women get vaccinated.
He said that the achievement of full immunisation under Mission Indradhanush to at least 90 percent coverage was to be achieved by 2020.With the launch of IMI, achievement of the target has now been advanced, he added.
Bandana appealed to the people of the State to extend support to the health programme which was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
She informed that there is a plan to carry out the third round of special Intensified Mission Indradhanush vaccination programme from June
18 to 22 .
She also elaborated that the report of Mission Indradhanush under Gram Swaraj Abhiyan will be done through the mechanisms of reporting on portal of Gram Swaraj Abhiyan, manual reporting as done in the previous phases of Mission Indradhanush and performance under the Mission to be added to monthly progress report of ANMs for entry into HMIS portal and RCH/ MCTS portal as done routinely
for all activities.
