2.98 kg brown sugar, 20.625kg WY tablets seized

Security forces on Monday arrested a man with 4.98kg of brown sugar and also seized around 20.625 kg of WY tablets from separate locations.
According to a police report, a team of Tengnoupal district police arrested a man with 4.98kg of brown sugar from an unregistered auto rickshaw during a checking operation carried out in front of Tengnoupal PS at around 9am on Monday.
The arrested man has been identified as Seiminlal Baite (29) s/o Holkhai Baite of Maojang Village, Moreh Ward No 1.Baite was driving the auto rickshaw.
During the operation, the team recovered around 72 soap cases containing the brown sugar.
Baite was arrested with the drugs after observing necessary formalities and a case under ND&PS Act has been registered against him for further course of legal action.
Meanwhile, a team of 5 Assam Rifles was carrying out a routing checking operation near Border Pillar No.79 at Muslim Basti, Moreh Ward No 5 around 9am on Monday, when a man riding a Kendo Bike from Myanmar side dumped a bag and fled from the area on seeing the troopers.
When the team opened the bag, they found around 20.625 kg of WY tablets, estimated to worth around Rs 10.31 crore.
The drugs have been handed over to Moreh PS, the report informed.
