State receives Rs 210 crore as PDRD grant

The department of expenditure, Ministry of Finance on Tursday released the second monthly instalment of Post Devolution Revenue Def-cit (PDRD) Grant amounting Rs 210.33 crore for Manipur for the year 2021-22.In total, the ministry has released the second monthly instalment of PDRD Grant of Rs 9,871 crore for the year 2021-22 to 17 states including Manipur.
With the release of second instalment, a total amount of Rs 19,742 crore has been released in the frst two months of the current fnancial year as PDRD grant to the states.
The Centre provides the Post Devolution Revenue Defcit Grant to the states under Article 275 of the Constitution and grants are released as per the recommendations of the Finance Commission in monthly instalments to meet the gap in revenue accounts of the states post-devolution.
The 15th Finance Commission has recommended Post Devolution Release Defcit grants to 17 states.
The eligibility of states to receive this grant and the quantum of grant was decided by the Commission based on the gap between assessment of revenue and expenditure of the state.
Assessed devolution for the fnancial year 2021-22 was also taken into account by the Commission.
The amount received by Manipur as second monthly instalment of PDRD grant for the month of May is Rs 210.33 crore and the state received a total of Rs 420.66 crore as PDRD grant for the month of April and May.
The Fifteenth Finance Commission has recommended a total Post Devolution Revenue Defcit Grant of Rs 1,18,452 crore to 17 states in the fnancial year 2021-22.The grant is released to the states in 12 monthly instalments.
States receiving PDRD grant for the months of April and May are Andhra Pradesh (Rs 2876.16 crore), Assam (Rs1062.66 crore), Haryana (Rs 22 crore), Himachal Pradesh (Rs 1708.16 crore), Karnataka (Rs 271.84 crore), Kerala (Rs 3315.16 crore), Manipur (Rs 420.66 crore), Meghalaya (Rs 213.16 crore), Mizoram (Rs 298.34 crore), Nagaland (Rs 759.5 crore), Punjab (Rs 1680.16 crore), Rajasthan (Rs 1646.34 crore), Sikkim (Rs 113 crore), Tamil Nadu (Rs 367.34 crore), Tripura (Rs 757.66 crore), Uttarakhand (Rs 1295.34 crore and West Bengal (Rs 2934.5 crore).
This comes to Rs 19,742 crore in total.
