Indira stresses on harvesting rain water

Citing absence of Government initiative to harvest rain water, independent candidate in the Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency election Indira oinam said Manipuri womenfolk need to exert pressure upon the State authorities to take suitable and effective measures to avert recurrence of potable water shortage in the future.
Speaking at the branch office inauguration of Revolution for Indigenous Peoples With Sustainable at Thangmeiband Hijam Leikai today Indira, the lone women candidate in the Inner MPC said objective of setting up the branch office is to facilitate the womenfolk sustain livelihood and contribute in the social reformation movement.
Inspite of Manipur being a rainfall abundant State the Government lacking vision and unable to implement projects to harvest rain water is most regretful, she said and maintained that with womenfolk bearing the brunt of drinking water shortage concerted effort is needed to ensure that the Government do not exist for namesake but serve the people.
Further stating that absence of separate budgetary allocation for the womenfolk has been one of the stumbling blocks in Manipuri women's endeavour to attain socio-economic independence, Indira also opined that moral education for the women/girls has become inevitable.
She also called upon the Manipuri womenfolk to take pro-active role in eradicating ills plaguing politics, expanding income generation avenues and imbibing moral responsibility for overall progress of Manipuri society.
