Highlighting scarcity of water and shabbiness of Male Medicine Ward and the toilets at Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, a diabetes patient of the hospital has sought the immediate intervention of Governor Najma Heptulla on the matter .
A diabetes patient who has been admitted to RIMS Male Medicine Ward since Monday has written to the Governor highlighting the shabby, unhygienic latrine in the Male Medicine Ward and non availability of water in the ward .
The patient, social activist Ashinpou Gangmei, who was admitted to the Male Medicine Ward (bed number 16) for high blood sugar also urged the Governor to pay urgent attention to the matter .

Sometimes, they get water by paying Rs 10 to the toilet keeper .
Toilets of the ward are not only unhygienic but also left unkempt.
Pan stains adorn the toilets.
Besides, the ventilators at the toilets are used to throw away waste materials.
The sweepers do not care to keep the toilets clean and tidy.
No light/electric has been fitted at some toilets much to the inconvenience of the patients, Ashinpou mentioned .
He also said that the Swachh Bharat campaign has not reached RIMS' Male Medicine Ward and the toilets.
