Imphal, November 23 2021:
Candidates who are planning to buy the votes 6f the people are simply insulting the people and as such, do not deserve the precious votes.
People should also have a commitment and stop being made into a cannon fodder between candidates, CM N Biren Singh has stated.
With reference to substantial number of people gathered in a one-day political conference organised by BJP Khurai Mandal at Khurai Popular High School on Tuesday, CM Biren said that the conference has proven the commitment of Khurai denizens to vards BJP.
He then cautioned the people against voting for candidates with wealth, adding that the present peaceful situation of the state could be reversed to what it was like 4 years ago.
The CM continued that under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi, the country has recovered from prolonged issues of homelessness, starvation and access to medical facilities.
People are now able to save money for their rainy days.
When the BJP government took the helm of affairs in the state, only 5.7 per cent of the people had access to safe drinking water.
But now, the coverage has increased to 54 per cent, with the possibility of reaching 80 percent of the population before the upcoming polls.
Biren then contended that politics requires principled people and unprincipled people, who are only looking out for their own interests, should not be given the responsibility at any cost.
Such people would only bring chaos to the state, as had seen in the past.
Stating that the present government would not have been formed without the support of Khurai AC MLA L Susindro, the CM observed that the MLA is excellent in management and recalled that he (Susindro) stood strong for the government during the cabinet reshuffle.
The MLA's efforts to save lives during the Covid-19 pandemic can neither be ignored nor forgotten and as such, a committed person like Susindro should be re-elected as a representative of the people.
Biren further stated that Susindro played many important roles for the party even before becoming an MLA.
Although he (Biren) wanted to give the MLA a ministerial post, the time and situation were not favourable due to the government being a coalition.
A coalition government is different and it is hard to get the job done.
Efforts will be made to prevent similar situation in the upcoming polls, the CM said, adding that the people have an important role to play in this regard.
"There are many candidates who want to contest the elections and win by buying the votes of the people.
However, such thinking of buying the votes is simply an insult to the people.
Thus, the people should not vote for such unscrupulous persons and instead, be committed.
They should be clear on whether they want Manipur to progress or not and stop being in the middle.
All should have the principle of us being the winner, not our enemies," the CM asserted.
Biren then urged for concerted efforts to formulate a peaceful policy under the leadership of PM Modi, home minister Amit Shah, BJP national president JP Nadda and others.
The present condition of the state is risky and thus, a stable situation of all communities needs to be created for the sake of the future.
For this, the BJP government should be voted to power, he contended and urged the people not to be swayed by money during the polls and help prevent the return of bandh, blockade, fake encounters and poor law and order situation in the state.
Rajya Sabha MP Leishemba Sanajaoba; Agriculture minister O Lukhoi; Education minister S Rajen; TA&H minister Vungzagin Valte; BJP national spokesperson and Manipur in-charge Sambit Patra; BJP national executive member Sumitra; MLAs Karam Shyam, N Indrajit, L Susindro; BJP Khurai Mandal president L Kananbala and other office bearers of BJP Manipur Pradesh attended the conference.
As part of the conference, CM N Biren also released an election manifesto of MLA L Susindro for the 2022 polls, containing 32 points of works to be undertaken in Khurai AC if he is re-elected.
