IGSSS responds to calamities

Indo-Global Social Service Society (IGSSS), anon-profit organization working with the mandate for a humane social order based on truth, justice, freedom and equity, has swiftly responded to the natural calamities that occurred in the State recently.
After conducting an assessment on the damages caused by flood and landslides, IGSSS, an organisation having its presence in 25 States and UTs across the country, provided aid to the calamities affected victims of Bishnupur, Chandel and Churachandpur districts, according to a statement.
IGSSS with support from Misereor Germany and Christian Aid International Development will continue to support the flood and landslide affected victims of Churachandpur, Bishnupur and Chandel district, Manipur in a phase manner.
On August 22, IGSSS has started the first phase cash distribution of Rs 1000 to each family as unconditional cash transfer to meet their other immediate needs to 28 affected villages of Churachandpur's Sangaikot block, 240 households of Bishnupur's Moirang block and 23 households of Khengjoy block of Chandel district.
A total of 8800 people were covered.
The second phase distribution will comprise of non food items like tarpaulin and rope, double bed sheet, blankets; wash and dignity kits- plastic buckets with mug, washing and bathing soap, disinfectant liquid, sanitary napkins, it said.
After emergency distribution, IGSSS will continue disaster risk reduction programme in Churachandpur district with support from Misereor on preparedness and building of resilient community.
The distribution yesterday was led by Kaplianlal Thangluai, Assistant Manager (Programme), Ashok Soram, AFM, IGSSS Regional office, Guwahati and Thangboi Haokip, head of IGSSS Churachandpur unit with support from four field volunteers and Kuki Student Organization (KSO), Kuki Khanglai Lawmpi (KKL), a philanthropic organisation and Kuki Chiefs' Association (KCA), the statement added.
