Imphal, November 20 2012:
The bandwagon of the present bandh has been joined by the Indigenous Kuki People's Front (IKPF) which squarely blamed the central government and termed the present situation as a fall-out of lack of political vision in properly analyzing the aspiration of the Kukis by the Centre.
Briefing media persons, RR Chothe, president of the IKPF said that the organization has watched the unfolding of the final outcome of the various talks starting from NSCN (IM), demand for plebiscite from the Manipuris and claim from historicity based on merger agrreement, etc.
However, no satisfactory conclusion has emerged out from all these talks, he said.
Saying that this development does not make the organization hopeful, he said that the future of the Kukis, bought with blood is the destiny of the Kukis which is best left to the kukis themselves.
According to Lien Gangte, General Secretary of IKPF said this while giving his statement at the Manipur Press Club today adding that Kuki militants, United People Front (UPF) and Kuki National Organization (KNO) which entered into Suspension of Operation (SoO) too would back out of the pact if the aspiration of the Kukis is not met within a pre-determined date.
The Indigenous Kuki People's Forum (IKPF) supports the ongoing 'public blockade' by the Kuki State Demand Committee (KSDC).
He lamented that the SoO does not give any benefit to the Kukis.
The only way talks could start is when Indian leaders in the rank of the Home Minister or the Chief Secretary, others holding portfolio below their status would not be acceptable, he said.
