Virus impact on education sector discussed

Kangleipak Students' Association (KSA) organised a one-day panel discussion on the topic 'Re-opening of schools, colleges and universities' at Classic Grande here on Sunday.
The panel discussion moderated by IAS (Retd) Rk Nimai was attended by 21 panelists comprising academicians, intellectuals, health experts and CSO leaders.
Speaking at the event, KSA president Sukham Bidyanahda recounted that owing to the spread of Covid-19 pandemic in the state, the government imposed lockdown, curfew and other forms of restrictions in a bid to contain the spread of contagious disease with educationbeing the hardest hit sector as conduct of physical classes was not possible.
As such, the panel discussion has been facilitated to discuss whether educational institutes could be reopened in view of the slight improvement in the Covid-19 situation and the challenges that are likely to be faced if schools and colleges resume normal classes.
According to KSA representatives, a resolution regarding reopening of educational institutes in the state based on feedbacks received from the delegates would be submitted to the departments concerned and the same made public within short notice.
