Works Minister inaugurates RCC bridge

Tamenglong, February 18 2015:
An RCC bridge constructed over Irang River at Matung (Duiluan Part- 2) between Rangkhung via Bhalok Tamenglong Road was inaugurated on Wednesday by Works Minister Dr Kh Ratankumar in presence of Vice Chairman of HAC Z.Kikhonbou Newmai, local MLA Janghemlung Panmei, ex-Minister DP Panmei, ex-MLA Khangthuanang Panmei and top officials of State PWD and district level officers.� The RCC Bridge was constructed at the cost of Rs.867 lakh under Special Plan Assistant (SPA) by Road and Bridges Division of State PWD.
The bridge is 70-metre long and 7.50-metre wide (double lane).� The construction work started from December, 2011 and completed in December, 2014 .�It is the shortcut way from Tamenglong to Rangkhung village on NH 37 via Noney to Imphal.
The shortcut road takes just two hours from Tamenglong to Noney and easily reaches capital in just four hours.� The taxi, sumo, bolero, cruiser and other light vehicles have started plying on this shortcut road since December, 2014 .
It may be mentioned here that the Chairman Association Tamenglong on behalf of the general public of Tamenglong took a bold step to stop all passenger vehicles plying on the shortcut road which charged more than Rs 300 as travelling fair from passengers.
