Govt, private schools under MSF scanner

Manipuri Students' Federation (MSF) will be closely monitoring the government and private schools in the state from this year onwards as part of its ongoing academic campaign "Eikhoi Lairik Ningthina Tamsi", affirmed newly elected president Maibam Julesh.
The oath-taking ceremony of the 19th Federal Executive Council of MSF was held its head office complex in Kwakeithel Thokchom Leikai here on Sunday.
The ceremony was attended by Manipur University, School of Education dean Prof Takhellambam Inaobi Singh as oath commissioner while MSF advisor and Election Committee chairman Ngariyanbam Milan, advisor and Election Committee observer Kh Serajjudin, advisor and Election Committee returning officer Oinam Ashinikumar Singh and process will help the vulnerable students, save the dying government schools and assist those who want to avail education at private schools but lack the financial means.
The survey will also assess how the government is keeping check on the rising number of private schools/coaching centres and universities, he conveyed.
MSF ex-president Khagembam Bidyasagar were the presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, Maibam Julesh pointed out that in light of the Education minister's announcement of rationalising teachers of government schools by October 31, the Federation will be carrying out a survey to assess how this The Executive Council of MSF will further assess whether The Manipur Private School (Registration & Regulation), Act 2017 and Manipur Coaching Institute (Control & Regulation) Act, 2017 is being implemented effectively, while also monitoring the schools and coaching centres, which have been opened without fulfilling the requisite criteria, he stated.
Julesh then assured of carrying out the MSF's "Eikhoi Khunnai Khangminashi" campaign effectively from this term to save the youth of the state.
He demanded the government to formulate and implement a Manipur State Youth Policy for the young people, stating that it would help guide the youth in the right direction, in addition to being made aware of the origins of their clans and lineage among others.
The newly elected president also stated that MSF Affairs on Drug will carry out awareness campaigns at different schools under its 'Drug Used Prevention Campaign Manipur'.
Taking the impact of climate change seriously, MSF will continue to work for saving the environment, including continuing its campaign, "Shanghanlasi Manipur" in close association with related stakeholders, department and others.
Meanwhile, MSF elected four new vice presidents, namely Hijam Roshan, Yumnam James, Sanabam Thoithoiba and Chabungbam Sunilkanta, while Tekcham Rojit was elected as its general secretary.
In all, 41 students took oath on the occasion.
