Imphal, August 05 2022:
All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) observed the 25th Manipur Integrity Day with offering of floral tributes at the Integrity Pillar, BT Park here on Friday.
Later, a public meeting was organised at Kwakeithel Akham Leikai community hall, which was attended AMUCO president Pheiroijam Nando Luwang, All Manipur Women's Voluntary Association (AMAWOVA) president Yumkhaibam Kunjarani, United Meetei Pangal Organisation president Yumkhaibam Adil and Maring Uparap Assembly president K Yaima and others as presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, Nando Luwang alerted all concerned that Manipur's integrity is still under threat and as such, there is the need to work together with the Manipur Diaspora to thwart such threats, in addition to building a united front and showcasing the determination of Manipuris to India and also internationally.
While recounting the origin and significance of observing Integrity Day, the AMUCO president said that the 25 years long Naga peace talks are seriously affecting the people of Manipur and as such, we must stay vigilant at all times against any threat to the unity and territorial integrity of Manipur.
He then said that at present, attempts are being made including using the proscribed outfit of another community to disintegrate Manipur.
Thus, the people need to change the previous ways of defending the state's integrity by working alongside Manipuri Diaspora and further strengthening the bond between the different communities, he stressed.
As part of the observance, a two-minute silence was observed as a mark of respect to the brave hearts of the state, followed by presentation of gifts to the families of those who laid down their lives for the cause of protecting the territorial integrity of Manipur.
