BJP ex-MLA TT Haokip joins Shiv Sena
Shiv Sena to field at least 15 candidates: M Tombi

Former chairman of Manipur Legislative Assembly Hill Areas Committee TT Haokip (T Thangzalam), who won the Henglep seat on BJP ticket in the last election, has joined Shiv Sena on Tuesday.
In a press meet held at Shiv Sena Manipur office, Babupara here, state president M Tombi accorded warm welcome to the Henglep MLA along with Toijam Debananda of Keirao AC and announced their candidacy for the upcoming state assembly polls.
Speaking on the occasion, M Tombi commented on the burning of party flags and protests following the announcement of party tickets and wondered if the polls would be held in a free and fair manner.
Political parties-should try their level best not to betray their intending candidates, as it could affect the peace and security of the state.
Urging all for ensuring a free and fair election, the state president said that if the party's candidates were to win the polls, Shiv Sena would try to uphold the status of women, address the unemployment issues and other key issues plaguing the state.
As more candidates are preparing to join the party, Shiv Sena would be fielding at least 15 candidates, most of whom would have high possibility of winning.
So far, 8 candidates of the party have been announced, he added.
Meanwhile, TT Haokip recounted that he was appointed as the speaker of the state assembly after winning the polls in 1998 on Congress ticket.
In 2017, he Won on BJP ticket and was appointed as the chairman of HAC.
However, as he resigned during his term, he was denied ticket by the BJP.
Nonetheless, he would be contesting the upcoming polls and his closest competition would be Congress candidate Manga Vaiphei.
