Imphal, May 29 2021:
Deputy commissioner Imphal West has written to respective MLAs of Imphal West district to help the district administration in setting up of isolation centres in government schools, private schools and community halls considering rapid rise in Covid-19 cases due to uptake of widespread Covid-19 testing in the district.
According to letters sent to MLAs, DC Imphal West pointed out that preparations have been made to conduct widespread locality wise Covid-19 testing in the district.
There will be daily testing at areas designated as Covid-19 hotspots from June 1 onwards.
The earlier daily testing rate of 1000 per day will now be increased to 3500 to 5000 per day, which in turn may lead to steep rise in positive cases.
These cases will continue to rise for 10 to 15 more days, it added.
DC IW continued that such increase in cases will require setting up of isolation centres, medicine and support from local organisations.
Thus, district administration will have to set up Community Home Isolation Centres (CHICs) at government schools, private schools and community halls.
In such situation, the district administration appeals to MLAs to provide support and facilitate various local clubs and organisation in helping the administration, the letter said.
