Kaibi on the path of transforming into a model village

Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana (SAGY) scheme to develop Kaibi into a model village was launched by Senapati deputy commissioner Mahesh Chaudhari on Sunday at Kaibi village traffic point.
The launch event was organised by the district administration in collaboration with Kaibi Village Authority.
The SAGY scheme for the district was initiated by Lok Sabha MP Dr Lorho Pfoze, Kaibi village is situated some 47 km away from the Senapati district headquarters.
Mahesh Chaudhuri, in his address, said that SAGY scheme was launched in 2014 by the Prime Minister under which (scheme) respective MPs are to adopt some villages and make convergence of different departments to bring development in that particular village and transform it into a model village for others.
He explained that under SAGY there was no additional fund for development, however with the existing fund different departments would give priority and special attention to the developmental activities of that particular village.
The DC also informed that there would be continuous update and upgradation of the activities under the leadership of project director DRDA and assistant project director DRDA.
Seeking cooperation of the villagers, Mahesh Chaudhuri reminded that the SAGY scheme would succeed with the proactive involvement and support of the local populace.
He also advised various departments in the district to review the progress on a regular basis, while appealing to the youth and village authority to give their fullest cooperation for proper implementation of various schemes in the village to transform it into a model village and spread the good example to other neighbouring villages also.
The DC further said that this scheme idea was based on Gandhi's philosophy of self-sufficient village by converging different departments like fishery, horticulture, agriculture, PMGSY, etc, and also focusing on constructing marketing shed and community toilet, cleanliness drive, and to increase the product of fruit and flower as the area has potential.
He also informed that the actual work will start this financial year and would be inaugurated by the MP, while assuring the gathering that the development plan would be finished on time and sought cooperation of the village leaders and various departments.
DRDA Senapati project director KG Daigong, in his address, highlighted the purpose and objective of the SAGY, stating that villagers need to be involved in developmental activities.
He advised the villagers to keep Kaibi model village's name intact in the days to come.

As part of the event, tree saplings were planted by DC, PD DRDA and other dignitaries.
Around 100 LED light bulbs at subsidised prices were handed over to the village authority and DFO fishery distributed E-Shram card registration forms to the villagers.
The event was chaired by Lokho Athili while invocation prayer was delivered by pastor Loli MBC Kaibi.
A special song was presented was by Dziipani, and the vote of thanks was proposed by Lohrii Zhonio with A John, Catechist St Peter, Paul Church, Kaibi offering the closing prayer.
Also present at the event were SDO Paomata, district level officers of various departments, village leaders, villagers and others.
