150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi: 15 days production oriented theatre workshop starts

As part of the one year celebration of 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, North East Zone Cultural Centre and Directorate of Art & Culture started a 15 day production oriented theatre workshop today.
The opening of the workshop at Directorate of Art & Culture hall was attended by Art & Culture Minister L Jayantakumar, Art & Culture Commissioner M Lakshmikumar and theatre director Naba Wareppa as presidium members.
Speaking at the event, L Jayantakumar sought close co-operatioon and collective efforts of all the concerned for successful conduction of the workshop.
Gandhiji's philosophy and his beliefs should be studied upon to better understand self, he said.
Non-violence and self reliance were his greatest strength, he said.
Art & Culture Commissioner M Lakshmikanta emphasised on the ideas and path Gandhi took during the freedom struggle and urged the trainees and those involved in the workshop to reflect on Gandhian philosophy.
Theatre director Naba Wareppa said that about 20 trainees are participating in the workshop.
The team is planning a presentation based on Gandhi's philosophy at the end of the workshop, he said.
