FSA conducts drive on fruit drinks/juice packed in tetrapack

Being concerned over the quality of juice packed in tetrapacks which is opaque where undesirable components may be present in the juice due to poor manufacturing practice, transportation and storage conditions, the Food Safety officials led by Dr M Dinesh Singh (FSO) and H Premkumar Singh (FSO) under the instruction of Y Surendro Singh, Designated Officer, FSA Bishnupur has inspected the retail and wholesale shops which were selling fruit drinks/juice packed in tetrapacks from main places in Bishnupur district yesterday including Moirang, Ningthoukhong, Bishnupur and Nambol area, conveyed a notice issued by Y Surendro Singh, Designated Officer, FSA Bishnupur.
The Food Safety officers collected the surveillance samples of various brands from these places which include Minute Maid, Mango Punch, Real, Frooto, Frooti, Appy, Maaza, Fruit Hotz etc.
and will be send to State Public Health Laboratory, Imphal for analysis.
The Food Safety officials advised the food business operators (FBOs) to store the packaged in appropriate condition and notified the public to be aware and immediately report if any such incidents happened to their market area to Food Safety and Standards Enforcement Wing, Bishnupur or to a nearby police station.
