Imphal, October 21 2015:
An advocate has lodged a complaint with Porompat Police Station under Imphal East seeking legal action against a woman Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) in a verbal abuse case.
ASI Somolini Okram who happens to be one of the nieces of Chief Minister Okram Ibobi allegedly "verbally abused" advocate Khumanthem Khogendro of Singjamei Mathak Thokchom Leikai in Imphal West and one Thounaojam Ravi of Khurai Chingangbam Leikai in Imphal East, who happens to be a brother of MLA Thounaojam Shyamkumar of Andro constituency.
The incident occurred at Porompat Police Station at about 10 am Wednesday.
The duo was supposed to meet the Officer-in-Charge in connection with a case when they took the battering from the woman cop.
A complaint has been lodged with the Superintendent of Police, Imphal East seeking legal action against the woman cop, Thounaojam Ravi told reporters at Manipur Pres Club on Wednesday.
When they were waiting for OC Dinesh inside the room of the Investigating Officer of the police station, ASI Somolini suddenly appeared there and started abusing them.
She even threatened to slap them.
Khogendro identified himself to Somolini who ridiculously asked him why he did not wear his advocate uniform and made disparaging comments.
She did not allow the duo to speak a single word as they were being threatened by her, Ravi claimed.
They then left the room and entered into the room of the OC.
Somolini also came into the room and she again started badly behaving against them and verbally abusing them.
They then suddenly left the police station, Ravi said.
Ravi demanded that appropriate action should be taken up against the woman cop for her bad conduct showing utter disrespect to an advocate and a civilian without any proper reason.
