Training prog on anti-human trafficking and child protection systems organised

Troops of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) in association with FXB India Suraksha and Manipur Commission for Protection of Child Rights organized a two day training program on anti human trafficking and child protection systems for the border management cadre officials at Moreh on March 6 and 7.The main objective of the programme was to train the officials of the paramilitary force on strengthening vigilance and mechanisms on combating human trafficking across Indo-Myanmar borders, said PRO, IGAR.
Officials from various departments including Police, Customs, Narcotics, Forest & Wildlife conducted lectures during the training programme.
The function was the 3rd batch undergoing such kind of training, it said.
Two similar training for Border Management Cadre was organized in May and June of 2019 wherein over 170 officials participated.
During the two day programme, the officials were trained on concepts of child safety, human trafficking and its difference from migration and smuggling of migrants.
The officials were explained about the modus operandi of traffickers and how the grave issue is an organized crime with the presence of multiple persons in the entire process.
Different section of the Indian Penal Code, Acts such as Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act 2015, Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, Immoral Traffick Prevention Act, 1986 etc were also discussed.
Chairperson, Manipur Commission for Protection of Child Rights spoke about the need of strong vigilance at the border, especially in Moreh, due to its geographical location.
The programme was conducted as part of project Mukti-Anti Trafficking initiative, implemented with the support of ECPAT Luxembourg since 2015 in the State.
