38,127 students to appear in HSLC exam

Imphal, March 13 2023: A total of 38,127 students would be appearing in the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) examination starting from March 16 in 158 centres across the state.

Addressing media persons in this regard at Board of Secondary Education Manipur (BSEM) conference hall, Babupara, here On Monday, BSEM chairman Akham Joykumar informed that of the total number of students, 18,286 are male students (regular), 18,628 female students (regular), 596 male students (external) and 617 female students (external).

Of the total, there are 8140 students from government schools, 1520 from government aided schools and 1520 students from private schools in addition to 12 students who are differently abled, he said.

The chairman further informed that a total of 70 inspection teams of teachers, earlier known as flying squad, have been formed in connection with the ensuing exam in addition to setting up 44/45 teams of stakeholders concerned and student volunteers.

Explaining that the common answer script for Science and Social Science, which was practiced earlier, will be replaced by separate answer scripts, Joykumar said that for Science, papers of Physics, Chemistry and Biology will have separate answer sheets.

Similarly, separate answer sheets would be provided for Civics & Economics, Geography and History of the Social Science subject.

The answer scripts of those not complying with the BSEM guidelines will not be evaluated, he added.

The chairman appealed to all concerned not to call any bandh or blockade during the course of the examination and to cooperate with the inspection teams during their visit to the examination centres so as to ensure smooth conduct of the exam.

BSEM will declare the results of the examination by the second week of May, he added.

The press meet was also attended by BSEM secretary Sapam Mangijao and controller of examinations Laishram Mangi.
