Lup decries submission of fabricated report to Centre

Taking serious note of the fabricated report submitted by 'Telis' to the Centre through Akhul Assam Bhojpuri Parishad (AABP) and terming it as an act of provoking potential riot, Leihoumee Salai Ahongpung Thougal Lup has categorically stated that the Telis and the state government should be held responsible if the fabricated report trigger riot and hate crime against Manipuris in other parts of the state.
Addressing a press meet at Khurai Ahongei Thangjam Leikai, here, on Friday, Lup president Nandalal Angomcha demanded the state government to arrest those Telis involved in making false report of the incident and submission a memorandum based on the fabricated report to the union defence minister Rajnath Singh.
He also demanded AABP to clarify for their unjustifiable act and invited the person and organisation responsible for spreading the false narrative for a talk to clear the misunderstanding.
The total area of covered by Khurai Ahongpung was 0.19 acre in 1960 but it has shrunk to only 0.068 acre.
Lairembi Sinthal Lup and Maichou Ningshing Lup are taking care of the sacred site.
They were preparing for a religious ritual related with the full moon day on December 5, during which some Teli youth created disturbance in the ritual, which led to the unfortunate incident, Nandalal recounted about the recent incident in Telipati area.
He also contended that on the night of the incident, Telis were involved in a riot but police did nothing with exception of arresting some Meetei youth and letting off the Teli youth who were responsible for the incident.
The Lup clearly told chief minister N Biren during his visit that the Telis were responsible and police did noth ing to control the situation, he said.
Nandalal then demanded the government to construct a temple for Telis and let the Meeteis construct their own shrine.
He also appealed to TV panelists to do some research before commenting on such sensitive issues.
