Roads in Porompat area cleaned

The roadside garbage in roads in and around Porompat were cleaned on March 3 under the supervision of Imphal East DC and SP and people throwing garbage recklessly along the roads were also arrested.
The initiative taken up by DC Kh Daina and SP H Jogeschandra was lauded by United Porompat Baruni Road Development Organisation (UPBRO), an apex body formed by 16 clubs in Porompat area.
Kh Daina said that people who violate the rule and throw garbage at any areas along the roads are punishable under the Indian Penal Code, 1860 section 278 and can carry a fine of Rs 500.On the night of March 3, 3 people who came to dispose of their garbage on the road sides were apprehended and handed over to the Police.
Md Razaq, general secretary, UPBRO, said the organisation supports the initiative of the DC and the SP and is prepared to take up legal actions against those who violate the law.
