Imphal, July 06 2012:
All Manipur Anti-Drug Association (AMADA) appealed to all the 60 MLAs of the state to stand together in the ongoing Assembly Session for implementation of Inner Line Permit (ILP) system in the state.
In a statement, M Padamini Leima, President of AMADA Mayai Loisang observed that with influx of outsiders ever increasing, our ethnic rituals, political and economic rights have been manipulated.
The only way to prevent further manipulation is implementation of ILP system.
The elected MLAs should understand that with implementation of ILP system, the integrity of hill and valley people, political and economic right and education system would be secured and the problem of unemployment and crimes would be reduced.
Not only in India but also worldwide, there are instances of indigenous people vanishing following onslaught of outsiders and their influences, and it is in recognition of this fact that United Nations passed Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples on September 13, 2007 and declared August 9 as International day of the World's Indigenous People in the United Nations General Assembly held on December 23, 1991, she recalled.
