Bishnupur, September 03 2021:
Loktak Development Authority (LDA) Workers' and Employees' Union staged a sit-in protest in front of the LDA office on Friday, demanding implementation of 7th CPC and service regularisation of the employees.
Speaking on the sidelines, Union secretary P Shyamkumar informed that around 247 workers were given work charge in phased manner in 1995-96 and 97.With the passage of time, some have retired and others passed away with the present strength comprising 54 regular and 50 on work charge basis in LDA.
Shyamkumar recounted that in 2011, an agreement was inked with the then state government for regularisation of service of the staff.
Although no staff was regularised, the government did implement the 6th CPC.
In 2019, the demand for 7th CPC was raised and a request was made for cash payment in April 2020 .
However, no action has been taken up till date in this regard.
As such, the sit-in protest was staged on Friday, he said, while condemning non-disbursal of funds despite allocation of Rs 12.5 crore in Budget-2020 and Rs 13.29 crore in Budget 2021-22 for 7th CPC.
Thus, Shyamkumar demanded the authority concerned to commence the regularisation process and further implement the 7th CPC.
