Republic Day celebrated at district headquarters

The 65th Republic Day was celebrated at respective dis-trict headquarters Sunday.
A total of 32 contingents including that of the Ex-servicemen.

Civil police (female), VDF.NCC units took part in the March Past during the Republic Day celebration at Lamka Public Ground.

Jacintha Lazarus urged all concerned to fight against the perpetrators of unwarranted andbestial crimes in the district while pointing out the recent rape and murder of a 5-year old girl at Nghathal and the rape of a 4-yr old child at Tuima village.
"Even after Republic, we are not free from various crimes, corruption, unemployment poverty etc which are real hindrance to real development and progress," the DC noted while adding that still with such problems, unity in diversity has been the biggest symbol of the district, State and country.
The DC also launched the official website of the district, www.ccpurdistrict.com on the R-Day eve.
In Tamenglong, the celebration was held at Mini Stadium Lower Ground with DC, C Arthur as the chief guest.
Speaking at the occasion, C Arthur called upon all concerned to exercise their franchise in the coming Lok Sabha election without any hesitation.
In Chandel district, the celebration was held at Maha Union Higher Secondary School ground with DC Th Chitaranjan as the chief guest.
Huge turnout of people was witnessed at the Republic Day celebration at Basu Ground, Khangabok in Thoubal district.
Thoubal DC, T Ranjit Singh unfurled the tri-colour and took the salute of the March Past which was participated by 58 contingents and commanded by N Jatin Singh, Dy SP (Cdo), Thoubal.
The R-Day was celebrated in a grand manner at Bakshi Ground, Hungpung in Ukhrul district with the DC Dr Shailesh Kumar Chaorasia unfurling the National flag.
A friendly football match was played between DC XI team and Tangkhul Naga Long to mark the occasion.
The match was won by the DC XI team while the best March Past contingent was Pakshimi Hr Sec School.
