The All Tribal Rights Protection Forum, Manipur (ATRPFM) has urged the State Government not to recommend Meeteis/Meiteis be included in the ST list of India, reports NNN.
The ATRPFM also appealed the Government of Manipur not to be a "silent spectator to the burning issue" .
The tribal forum cautioned that in the event of "any untoward circumstance" from the issue the State Government will be held responsible for it.
The ATRPFM also appealed the Government of Manipur to intervene on the issue by studying the "history and present situation" of Manipur tribal community.
ATRPFM also urged the HAC (Hill Areas Committee) of Manipur "to intervene on the issue or else resign from their posts" .
The tribal forum appealed to the eminent tribal leaders, politicians, bureaucrats, general tribals and civil society organizations "to kindly co-operate and help in any aspect of the issue" .
The tribal forum asserted that it did not oppose any community's demand and rights "but appealed the authorities concerned to intervene and resolve the issue" .
It appealed the authority concerned that "unless the issue is resolved the tribal forum will not stay silent" .
ATRPFM also asserted that every indigenous community has the right to protect and defend their own Constitutional rights.
