Thoubal, March 20 2023:
A total of 10 Meitei Pangal organisations pledged their support to the government's War on Drugs (WoD) mission in a joint meeting held at Lilong Keithel on Monday.
Informing this to the media, Meitei Pangal Council, Manipur convenor Arafat Khullakpam said that the government's War on Drugs mission is an important initiative for securing the future of the state and its people.
Considering the impact of drugs and substance abuse among the youth and future generation of the state, every individual or community should extend their support to the mission and make it more effective for eradicating the drug menace, the convenor said.
He also voiced strong condemnation against the large scale deforestation in hill areas for illegal poppy cultivation and said that such practice will not only affect the society and its youth but also the natural eco-system of the state leading to extreme climate and erratic weather conditions.
He called for a joint stand against such an-ti-social activities.
Representatives of Manipur Muslim Welfare Organisation, Meitei Pangal Council, All Manipur Muslim Students' Organisation, Pangal Students' Organisation, All Manipur Muslim Welfare and Development Organisation, Muslim Students' Association, Manipur Muslim Online Forum, PYDC, ADCCM and Lilong Bazar Development Committee attended the meeting.
