Donors of war relics honoured

World War-II Memorial Foundation felicitated Donors who generously donated war relics towards the cause of the Foundation in a simple function held at its Office located at Phaipijang near Pallel today.
While expressing heartfelt gratitude to Salam Meghachadra of Kakching Wairi Salam Leikai; Naorem Sanajaoba of Kakching Sumak Leikai; Doukhojam Haokip of Saivom and Darmeng Lamkang of Lamkang Khunou as well as to all other donors on behalf of the Foundation, Letmang Haokip, President of the Foundation, said that in the past few decades World War II related relics were found abundantly in most villages.
However, due ignorance of the grandparents, all the war relics were sold out as scraps for few sum of rupees instead of preserving them.
And few individuals who happened to keep some of the war relics again misconceived that it may fetch them a fortune or may contain gold, said the President.

In spite of such ignorance and misconceptions, it is indeed a very appreciating that many people have come up to donate their war relics to the foundation, he added.
Further, while appealing to all those who possessed war relics to generously donate to the foundation for preserving them in the Museum as a part of preserving world war history, L.Haokip, president of the Foundation said that any intending donor may contact the foundation members in person or through Mobile Nos.8974721118/9615966055/89744857239615273705 .
Delivering the vote of thanks, Amar Pradhan, Secretary Information & Publicity of the Foundation said that the aims and objectives of the Foundation is to preserve the World War 2 related relics and sites as well as to promote peace by creating awareness of the war effects to the younger generations.
During the programmme, Yanglet Haokip, National Council Member of BJP and M.Haothong Zou, Community Organiser CASA also expressed gratitude to the donors for their generosity and encouraged the members of the foundation who are from different communities and occupations in their initiatives.
