54 PCC members to vote in INC chief's poll

Altogether 54 Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) members from Manipur would cast their vote in the Indian National Congress (INC) presidential election to be held on Monday for electing new president of the party.
The election for the new INC president in Manipur will be held at Congress Bhawan from 10 am to 4 pm on Monday wherein 54 Manipur PCC members will cast their votes.
With the arrival of AICC assistant returning officer in-charge Iftkhar Ahmed and APRO TD Pradikumar here, preparation for the election has been completed.
Speaking to media persons in this regard at Congress Bhawan here on Sunday, Iftkhar Ahmed informed that INC is a party having strong internal democracy and Shashi Tharoor and Mallikarjun Kharge will contest the presidential election of the party.
In all, 54 voters from Manipur unit of the party will cast their votes in the election, he said.
While stating that the election will be held in free and fair manner using secret ballot, he urged the voters to exercise their franchise freely.
The ballot box will be taken to Delhi after end of voting and counting of votes will be done on October 19.He urged the voters to bring voter I cards issued by Central Election Authority and PCC delegate card.
Joining the media briefing, Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) vice president L Tilotama said that there is no other political party other than INC that conduct presidential election.
For Congress party, the president is elected through election and following rules and regulations.
While informing that preparation for the election is already completed, she expressed confidence that the PCC members will exercise their democratic rights on their own volition.
