Police threaten to arrest students for money

Imphal, June 16 2013:
In the aftermath of a road accident which took place at Heibongpokpi on June 2 in which three students riding on a Honda Activa were injured after they were hit by one 407 Tata mini-truck of Lamsang Police, the police personnel are threatening to arrest the students for money, claimed their parents.
The parents told Hueiyen Lanpao that the students were returning home after appearing an entrance examination at Millennium School.
Among them one Angom Romeo is still in a critical condition at Shija Hospital, while the other two namely Asem Krishnanand and Lenin sustained minor injuries.
The police team has given Rs.50000 as assistance to the seriously injured Romeo, but they never came again to enquire about Romeo's condition.
Instead, the police are now threatening to arrest the other two students if they do not give Rs.50000 each to them, the parents disclosed.
The worried parents have drawn the attention of the authorities concerned to look into such conduct of Lamsang Police and ensure safety
of their children.
