Imphal, June 15 2014:
In a never ending political drama, MLA Kh Joykishan-led State unit of All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) has requested Manipur Legislative Assembly Speaker to treat MLA Th Shyamkumar as 'Un-Attached' Member of the House.
Addressing newsmen at AITC Legislative leader M Kunjo's official quarters at Babupara here on Sunday, MLA Joykishan reiterated that a new president of Manipur Pradesh Trinamool Congress must be appointed only through election.
He cited Rule Number 5 mentioned in the page number 26 of AITC constitution which says election is mandatory to appoint presidents of the party's State units.
Referring to the appointment of MLA Shyamkumar as new president of MPTC, Joykishan said that appointment of president of a State unit of the party by an AITC national leader violates the party's constitution.
Joykishan said he was appointed president of MPTC by the party's Executive Committee after a due process of election.
As recommended by the Disciplinary Committee of the party and endorsed by the Executive Committee meeting held on June 10 last at the residence of Legislature leader of AITC, M Kunjo and presided over by party president Joykishan, MLA Shyamkumar was expelled from the primary membership of the party for six years for his anti-party activities, a statement issued by MPTC president Joykishan had stated.
It said the party has requested the Speaker in a letter dated June 10 to kindly treat Shyamkumar as Un-Attached Member of the House.
