UNLF condoles

The proscribed UNLF has condoled the demise of its 2nd Lt Wanglensana and Sgt Leephaba in an unfortunate incident that occurred at a place within the area of operation of the outfit's 293 Bn at around 11.20 am of October 8 .
A condolence service was held in honour of the two departed souls at the Central hqs, General headquarters and all units and battalions of UNLF and MPA, conveyed a press release issued by the outfit's department of publicity director M Sakhen.
2nd Lt Wanglensana alias Shanjit (40) s/o late Ng Giri and Chandrasakhi of Jiribam Motbung took oath as an MPA cadre on August 22, 2000 .
After working at Ghqs for sometime, he was transferred to department of finance on December 25, 2000 and he worked in Manipur valley.
He was again transferred to MPA on April 1, 2003 and he took part in many battles fought against Indian military forces.
He was lodged in jail for five months after he was arrested by 14 AR from Jiribam Sorok Atingbi.
He re-joined UNLF/ MLA in January 2007 .
2nd Lt Wanglensana was a diligent officer and a man of discipline, the outfit remarked.
He is survived by his wife and two children.
Sgt Nameirakpam Leephaba alias Mahendra (28) s/o N Amusana and late lrabati of Khundrakpam Awang Leikai took oath as an MPA cadre on September 15, 2008 .
He served as a combatant after he was posted at MPA's 241 Bn on October 1, 2009 .
After being trained as a wireless operator, Sgt Leephaba served as a radio operator at the signal staff of MPA Ghqs.
He took active part in the Barak Operation carried out by a joint force of the CorCom against Indian military forces in 2016 .
He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 2017 and he was serving as operator and QM at 293 Bn at the time of his death, it said.
Sgt Leephaba was always cool and he was a brave and well disciplined revolutionary, the outfit remarked.
It said that the demise of 2nd Lt Wanglensana and Sgt Leephaba is a great loss for UNLF and MPA.
The outfit also conveyed solidarity to the bereaved families.
