IBSD director participates in 'First Himalayan Conclave � 2015'

Imphal, September 10 2015 :
Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development (IBSD), a National Institute under Department of Biotechnology, Government of India in association with Department of Botany, University of Delhi , HESCO, Dehradun and Institute of Himalayan Bioresource Technology IHBT(CSIR), Palampur organized the "First Himalayan Conclave - 2015" on September 9 at University of Delhi.
"Over 300 people from different parts of the country participated in the conclave.
Recent Natural Calamities in Uttarakhand, Kashmir and Nepal are some of the most recent examples, which is still fresh in our memory," said Professor Dinabandhu Sahoo, Director of Imphal based Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development (IBSD), and Chairman of the Conclave.
He said it is high time to have a debate and in depth deliberations on status and health of Himalaya.
"How we can join hands to serve the Himalayas and its communities and the world at large," he said.
Professor K Vijayaraghavan Secretary Government of India, Department of Biotechnology, New Delhi while inaugurating the function emphasized the role of scientists and technologists to do more research for the benefit of the society.
Dr Anil Joshi, Director, HESCO said that this conclave is the first initiative to bring all stakeholders, social workers, NGOs, civil societies, scientists and academicians under one platform to save Himalayas and safeguard the interests of local people.
