MLA, writer, player feted

A felicitation function was organized by Central Committee Lok Jansakti Party, Langthabal Kendra in honor of Karam Shyam, MLA of Langthabal A/C who was recently awarded Bharat Jyoti Award 2014 in recognition of his humanitarian services by India International Friendship Society; renowned writer Birendrajit Naorem who was honored with Manipur State Award for Literature and Kumari Thoudam who clinched bronze medal in Judo in the just concluded Commonwealth Games held in Glasgow, Scotland at Chajing Mairenkhong Community Hall, Langthabal today.
During the function, MLA Shyam launched a benefit scheme for widows of Langthabal constituency and donated a sum of Rs 1 lakh from his own pocket to the scheme.
Addressing the addressing, Birendrajit Naorem stated that literature is very much needed in the society to bring harmony and maintain cordial relationship amongst the people of different communities.
He said that writers have their own unique observation towards various issues pertaining to the society and have been highlighting these issues through their books to give messages to the people.
