Dimapur, January 08 2009:
FOREIGN OUTFITS in collaboration with home-based insurgent groups are gradually establishing their network in the Northeast region of India.
This came to light with the recent serial blasts at Guwahati in Assam, seen as a gateway to the insurgent prone region of India.
The recent serial blasts are also a sad reminder that terror elements are slowly infiltrating into other major hubs of the region.
There is a general feeling among those sections of alert public that the recent serial blasts should serve as a wake-up call not only for the law enforcing agencies but also for the public of the region.
It has also raised many questions in the psyche of the public, what to do and what not to do.
The Morung Express in its interaction was able to get suggestions from a select few denizens of Dimapur.
A student, who is pursuing Law in Dimapur, said the serial blasts are clear signs that the terrorists can hit any part of India.
He pointed out that the police and the intelligence agencies have a lot more to do to ward off the conspicuous power of such outfits, and added that the public should extend full cooperation to the police and the law enforcing agencies.
He also commented on the strong need for public vigil against such elements that can easily mingle within our society.
He added that the police alone cannot fight against foreign terror groups, but rather each and every single citizen should come forward.
While stating that Dimapur has the maximum numbers of migrant workers, both legal and illegal, he suggested that all landowners should authenticate the background of their tenants.
"Verify the antecedents of a person suspiciously loitering around in your neighbourhood and report the matter to the police," he concluded.
While talking to a prominent businessman, he was of the opinion that the shopkeepers should not keep anything given to them by unknown persons and continued that the shopkeepers should keep an eye on the vehicles that is parked in front of their shops and establishments.
