The teachers under the Directorate of Education (S) have expressed displeasure over the non-release of salaries for three months from March despite assurance from education Minister while also appealing for the release of the same without delay.
A release issued by the General Secretary of the All Manipur Elementary School Teachers' Association (AMESTA), M Santakumar stated that the government is not yet able to execute any of its education programs despite the government's announcement for free, compulsory and quality education to everyone under various schemes of Human Resources Development.
AMESTA asked how effective are government school teachers going to be in their work without drawing any salary for the past three months?, and added that causing disturbances to the academic atmosphere will be a great loss to the state.
It also terms the situation as an invitation for strikes while also appealing the government to release the salaries at the earliest time possible.
AMESTA further threatened to launch strike if the government failed to release the pending reiterating that AMESTA and AMSTA had already submitted a memorandum to the Chief Secretary demanding on time action to post extension survey.
