BJP Manipur Pradesh president Adhikarimayum Sarda Devi launched the mass tree plantation programme by planting saplings at Ibudhou Khamlangba Laikol at Kakching Khunou, Kakching Khu-nou Government High School campus and Primary Health Centre, Kakching Khunou.
The programme was attended by BJP state general secretary N Premananda Meitei, Kakching District in-charge and BJP Manipur Pradesh secretary P Somorjit, BJP Kakching District president Usham Ibomcha, Sugnu Mandal president Abujam Ibotombi, Kakching Khunou Municipal Council ex-councillors, social workers and party members.
Sarda also attended the birth anniversary event at Kakching Khunou and paid floral tributes to the photos of Dr Shyama Prashad and Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhay.
Speaking on the occasion, Sarda informed that BJP has been organising mass tree plantation drives across the nation from June 23 (Balidan Diwas) till July 6 which is the birth anniversary of Dr Shy-ama Prasad.
The main idea behind organising the tree plantation drive is to preserve ecological balance and mitigate climate change, she said.
Stating that the main responsibility of BJP is to make sure that people avail the benefits of the schemes taken up by the government, Sarda said that the party workers have reached every nook and corner of the nation.
Noting that the people of Manipur believe in the BJP led government under CM Biren for his initiatives taken up for the welfare of the people, she said that the statements made against the party by other political parties are because of being a political party.
The trust of the public is what is required for the BJP, she maintained.
Stressing that vaccination is the only way to prevent the spread of Covid-19, Sarda exhorted every eligible person to vaccinate themselves and consider it as their sole duty.
On the other-hand, Chandel Battalion of IGAR (South) conducted tree plantation drive in Changshil and Nungourok village of Tengnoupal district on Sunday to promote 'Go Green Initiative'.
The plantation drive was conducted with the aim to control global warming, make environment pollution free and spread awareness on the importance of clean environment, said a PRO IGAR(S) release.
As part of the initiative drive, saplings of various plants were planted and the villagers were also educated about the importance of trees in maintaining the ecological balance.
