Imphal, June 05 2013:
Kuki Students Organisation General Headquarters (KSO-GHQ) today said that it was astounding to find out that the pseudo ATSUM volunteers who were arrested and kept in Sekmai Police custody in connection with the 38-hour bandh were released on 4th June by Sekmai PS after some persons suspected to be pseudo ATSUM leaders disguise themselves as KSO GHQ leaders and ordered the release.
In a statement issued by its General Secretary Sasang Vaiphei, KSO said that right after receiving news about misusing the name of KSO by some imposters, a team of KSO GHQ rushed to Sekmai Police Station and inquired about the incident.
There the police informed that some people who identified themselves as KSO leaders came to plead for the release of 9 pseudo ATSUM volunteers.
"This shows the present ATSUM as not a legitimate and mandated tribal student body", Sasang said.
On the other hand, it was hard to believe that Sekmai police could be easily convinced by the imposters, inspite of releasing several press statements on the pseudo ATSUM's 38 hours bandh.
Hence, KSO considers this as a clandestine act orchestrated by the police and imposters to malign the image of KSO.
If the culprit(s) are not booked at the earliest time the student body will resort to its own form of action, the statement added.
