Railways to reach Imphal by 2016

Imphal, October 03 2011:
Construction of railway lines from Jiribam to Tupul is in full progress and the railway line, will, in all probility reach Imphal by 2016 .
Officials sources from the Transport department revealed that the railway project from Jiribam to Tupul which is targeted to be completed by March 2014 has a total length of 84 kms.
Work progress along the 84 km stretch is going on at a full speed.
The project cost which was earlier marked at Rs 727 crores has been further increased to Rs 2714 crores.
The source further said that construction of almost all bridges along the 84 kms long railway line has already started.
Among the 64 bridges which are to be built, two big bridges have been completed, 25 of them in near completion and the other remaining bridges are also in progress.
