Many lend help to 'viral' girl babysitting sibling

Many people including the Chief Minister and other leaders have come forward to extend support and assistance to a little girl studying in Class I at Dailong Primary School, Tamenglong, who went viral on social media platform after she attended her classes while babysitting her younger brother.
A photo of the girl babysitting her younger brother and attending classes, while her parents had gone out in search of work, went viral on social media on Saturday.
After coming across the photo, CM N Biren dispatched a team of Childline Tamenglong on the same day to meet the family of the little girl and for ICPS to extend all necessary help in this regard.
As such, a team of Childline Tamenglong visited the girl's family and provided them with some dry ration as an immediate measure.
The team conveyed that if the parents of the girl permit, the Social Welfare Department will place the girl at a children's home and provide free education and other assistances till she attains the age of 18 years as a form of institutional support.
Or, the girl would be provided a stipend of Rs 2000 per month for the next 3 years as educational expense.
The team urged the family to think about the suggestions provided, while assuring of meeting the family again as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, Education minister Y Khemchand along with a team of Education (S) visited Dailong Primary School and assessed the difficulties faced by the little girl.
He then instructed the director of Education (S) to do all that are necessary.
On the other hand, Forest minister Th Biswajit got in contact with a relative of the little girl and asked to bring the girl to Imphal with assurance of sponsoring her education till graduation for free.
"Her dedication for education is what left me amazed! This 10-year-old girl named Meiningsinliu Pamei from Tamenglong, Manipur attends school babysitting her sister, as her parents were out for farming and studies while keeping her younger sister in her lap," said minister Biswajit.
Rongmei Naga Students' Organisation Manipur (RNSOM) president, Daichui Gangmei also met the little girl and praised her perseverance.
He added that RNSOM will extend all possible help towards the little girl till she is able to make a career.
Daichui Gangmei further appreciated the support extended by the CM to the little girl.
The RNSOM team then extended a financial assistance of Rs 10,000 to the little girl and assured of extending support to her siblings as well.
The organisation will continue to extend support to the students of the state whenever required, it conveyed.
